About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Lazy day for me and a bus ride for Ian.

With no need to rush to get up, we had a lazy start enjoying tea, toast and breakfast TV. Eventually got up to take Jade for her walk and decided to take a stroll round the small lake at Mercia. Took loads of pictures and tried for the first time to use my 'high speed burst' mode on the camera. Certainly got the pictures I wanted but disappointed about the focus.

We have been joined by Nb Jandi this morning. They have moored just beyond the footbridge and after the briefest of waves as they came past, we have yet to say hello. We have been engrossed in the Olympics watching the men's Triathlon so that's our excuse at the moment. Two brothers are hoping to get gold and silver, so come on lads. You can do it!!

It's also a milestone day for us as Ian is on his way to City Hospital for the pic line to be fitted.  He is hoping it will be inserted somewhere in his chest rather then by his elbow. He's a bit worried about having restrictive movement in the arm for the duration of the chemo. A year is a long time.

Update:-

Ian is back. He has had to have the picc line fitted in a vein by his elbow. He's a bit battered and bruised but at the moment its not giving him to much trouble. Fingers crossed it continues.
