The Turquoise Lake

 February 16th

Another lazy start, well we did sleep in, and I blame Ian because of it. He did so want to beat me at Quiddler so several games were played. It was very late when we finally departed for bed. And as far as the score goes, to date, Ian 8, and me 13! He is getting a bit frustrated that I keep winning and mostly on small insignificant words. Not like some of the words he puts down, most I have never heard of. And he does like to use the Greek alphabet. Not happy about that at all seeing as Greek was never taught at my school. Still I'm winning and that's all that matters.

The only plan today was head back to Twizel for the dump point and to get something for dinner tonight. It was then off toward Lake Pukaki.

 

We had to stop. That beautiful turquoise of the lake with Mt Cook in the background was a view we never tire of. Coffee was had here before starting once more on the journey towards Lake Tekapo.

 

 

 Didn't get very far though. A small dirt track leading down to the lake seemed like somewhere we could stop and wile away a few hours. Got ourselves set up, stones under the front and rear wheel to make us level and the awning went up for some shade.

 

 Lunch was had sitting outside admiring the view.

 

 We never did make Lake Tekapo, today was a day to chill out, read books and play more Quiddler. This area is also a dark sky reserve. Fingers crossed for a cloud free sky.
