About Us
- Ian and Irene Jameison
- In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

And another update
Oh, dear, things were not going according to plan. As mentioned yesterday the Ghan is still to go ahead so tomorrow we fly out to Darwin. Thinking everything was now hunky-dory for our return on the 6th, a text from Singapore airlines effectively pulled the carpet from under our feet! It said the second leg of the journey from Singapore to the UK, that flight had been cancelled. Ian spent over two hours on the phone hanging on to speak to an agent and eventually, they agreed to refund our money. So the hunt was on for a new flight. Finally found one leaving Sydney on the
31st with Emirates. So now everything crossed that they don't cancel that flight on us! Watch this space!

Hi there, you two,
I'd been wondering what was going to happen fr you - we had an email this morning cancelling our flights to the UK with Singapore Air - we had already decided we weren't going but have been asked by our travel agent not to call to reschedule until about a month before the travel date. Given you have got a refund, we may try that too!
Enjoy the Ghan. And if you have to stay on in Australia for another few months, then at least you have people to stay with and/or the capacity to rent somewhere to live for a bit. No doubt lots of motels will have units at knock down prices given the lack of tourists!
Be safe, lovely friends,

Oh, what a shame Marilyn but that doesn't surprise us. Maybe later in the year this virus will lay down and be silenced for good! As to the cancellation, if the airline cancels then you have every right to claim a refund so you should phone as soon as possible. (took us over two hours to get through to Singapore Airlines so good luck with that!) I still live in hopes that we can meet this year but it is more important that you and David keep well in readiness for next years cruising season.
Take care you two and sending much love.

This may give some hope!

We have everything crossed that you can find a way to get back to the UK.
Thanks, Jennie, we may still have a problem because the Northern Territories will be in lockdown on Tuesday. We still hope to take the train on Wednesday!
