A very good day today with hardly any dramas to speak of. Yes we were hit by a Black Prince hire boat but that was partly our fault. We picked him up well before the Ashby turn and, with him at tick over, he did eventually let us past. Unfortunately he pulled over where it happened to be very shallow at the towpath edge so Ian had to give FS a bit of wellie, The force of water drew his bow toward us and hit us square on the side. Not his fault and not to much damage. Just another scrape along the gunwale to touch up!

Turned onto the Oxford canal at Hawkesbury junction. We could have watered up before the junction but chose to do the few inches rise of the lock first. And there was no queue! Then it was time to water up, get rid of rubbish and empty loo. The water tank was showing 80% full when, who should turn up , but the Black Prince hire boat! Not wanting to get behind it again we soon had the hose reeled in and lines let loose.

By the lock a sign was on the wall with an aware notice. Bridge 34 was having work done to it and boaters may experience a 2 hour delay. Luckily the channel was clear as we approached the bridge.
Our destination for tonight was bottom of Hillmorton Locks. Not quite by the water point but near enough for us to make the flight hopefully, before the hire boats start, so it looks like yet another early start. .
Cute baby pics today.
