What is going on with our weather. Apparently at the same time last year we were basking in temperatures of 20 degrees! Waking this morning with the sound of water dripping from the trees I thought we had rain instead of snow. Then as soon as we opened the back doors it became evident that snow (although very wet) was coming down hard giving us a slight covering. On arriving here on Wednesday I hung a fat ball and seed feeder to the tree. Within 30 minutes birds were already flocking to it. Amazing how they seem to know where to find them.
Late afternoon 3 more boats arrived. Carole and Mick on Electra, Dennis and Margaret on Icing and Dave and Heather on Bracken. They also had had a cold journey down from Langley Mill and was ready to grab a cup of tea and warm up by the fire.
Taking my usual morning walk with the woofit, I happened to see the finished fishing platforms from just beyond Dolkholme Lock and stretching for at least half a mile in the distance. If you recall on my
December post, C&RT were in the process of building them. What gets me is that the towpath is narrow all along that part of the canal and with fisherman with their fishing equipment and poles strewn all over the place it will be like walking an obstacle course.

Notice how near to the lock landing they are. There are more platforms around the far bend. |
Mind you, with fish only just being introduced into the water due to the
Stanton Pollution, it will take a long time before any of that stretch will fish well.
By early this afternoon another hardy boater had turned up. He had battled the wind and snow to get here and was surprised that he was alone. By now we usually have wall to wall boats. I have this horrible feeling that the weather will have put people off. Carole has ordered 50 pies and 4 catering size tins of mushy peas for tomorrow. I can see an awful lot of left overs if we don't get the turnout!

Just been catching up with your blog. Good news re Ian - shall you be taking a cruise? Where are you thinking of heading to?
Hello Jill,
Once we get the okay from the consultant our first port of call will be to the Pelsall Rally on the BCN in June. Then if we can continue cruising we will be heading toward Chasewater, Staffordshire. Not sure after that. We have never cruised the K&A so maybe we will head South.
