About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

A message from C&RT for the Erewash canal

http://canalrivertrust.org.uk/get-involved/appeals/give-a-vole-a-home-on-the-erewash-canal

Even though our home canal ( Erewash ) is not one of the most popular canals to cruise, it's great to see C&RT have not given up on it. I remember the water voles being present when we first moved into the area in 2004, and up to 2 years ago they were present in the Nottingham canal which ran parallel with the Erewash. Well done C&RT for caring. I will be making a donation.

Here are my pictures for today. With the temperature having fallen to -4 last night we had ice on the canal again. Made the swan, who comes for his breakfast everyday, struggle to reach the window.

We give him wholemeal bread. Apparently white bread is not so good for their digestion. (see article)

Frozen over again.

Strings of condensed frost particles covered the branches.

Beautiful spider web

Wait for me mum!
