About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

18th Feb and more snow

We left Kilby Bridge on 18Th Feb heading toward Foxton again. We needed diesel and so cruised down to Debdale Marina. The day started so well with light winds and clear sky's. We did all seven locks and 3 miles up to Newton Harcourt in 2 1/2 hours. As Ian wanted to use the chainsaw to cut up all the wood we had scavenged along the way, we decided to moor up for a few hours and then set of once the wood had been chopped up. I am so glad we decided to stop when we did because the snow started and came down in the biggest flakes we had seen for some time.
