About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

A diagnosis...finally!

Okay so I was wrong. Back blogging today because Ian has managed to find a longer cable and has stuck our 3 dongle receiver on top of the TV aerial. Its amazing just what a bit of extra length can do for you.smiley emoticons

Anyway, my trip to the NHS consultant yesterday. Well I was right about one thing. No hip replacement needed although I do need to have a dirty great needle stuck into the hip area to drain fluid. Seems like the MRI showed up Hip Bursitis as well as a narrowing of one of my vertebra in the lower back, pinching the nerves going down the side of my leg, hence the pin and needles.

I am to be booked in for this procedure sometime within the next 6 weeks then, if all this goes well, a referral to a back specialist for more injections into the spine. It appears that I am to be used as a pin cushion for the foreseeable future but, if it does the trick, I certainly wont complain.

Returning late last night only one boat was moored on our stretch. Today though, a lot more has arrived. Ian has been helping out and I have been asked to do a 2 hour duty on the bric a brac stall tomorrow morning. No photos of the arriving boats this afternoon because I refuse to go out and get soaked. The rain arrived ahead of schedule, supposed to be here by 8pm with intermittent showers throughout the night. Met office got that wrong again! Tomorrows forecast looks to be abysmal and I do hope this rally wont end up being a wash out, it would be such a shame for the organisers who have put so much effort into getting it ready. Only a few photos from this morning then... oh and I have been asked by Brenda Ward (BCNS) to be the photographer on site. An honour indeed.

A very pleasant start to the day and hot too! Shame it didn't last into the afternoon!
