About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

That was a surprise

We were almost the last to leave Lock 61 and that tells you what a great pub it was but it was the company that we were with that made it a memorable evening. Good job Ian remembered to bring the torch 'cos it was quite dark when we left.

Not one of my finest photos but from L to R  Ian, Fred, Will and Lisa

Took a walk up the Foxton flight early this morning and followed the discovery trail. It's a good few years since we were last here and somehow never got any photos of the incline plane. Hardly anyone about apart from the lock keeper mowing by the locks.

Friends Lynda and Tony turned up at FS mid-morning and after tea and cake, we all walked to Foxton Lock pub. Here we settled down to listen to J for Jazz, a band of ageing musicians who I found most enjoyable and entertaining considering I'm not a fan of Jazz.

Just been invited to join Fred and Lisa on Chyandour for a home cooked meal of Chilli cooked, I might add, by Will whom we met for the first time yesterday. What a lovely surprise. I do think these impromptu invites are the best.
