FS's moorings until March |
Gosh that was quick! Early last night Ian received an email from Anglo Welsh. Another boat to move from Oxford (on the Thames) to Tardebigge. This time a 2 berth 48ft cruiser stern, Sun Dance. 'Would Friday 13th be okay and could you get her to Tardebigge by 18th or 19th? said Emma in the email. Of all days to set off why Friday 13th! Not had much luck on this day previously as shown
here. Anyway the 13th it is and in a way I'm looking forward to this move more then Merlin's. Only because we get the chance to go on the Thames again. Might only be for a short while, getting off the Thames at Dukes cut onto the Oxford Canal, but didn't think we would do this wonderful river for another few years. Only downside....the boat has no 240v sockets. No way of charging the laptops so that weeks cruise may well be posted when we return to FS.
Today my task as the 'Paparazzi women' of the ECP&DA was to take photos of Barkers lock. The stoppage started on the 2nd (yesterday) and will be completed (hopefully) on the 14th December. The photos are to go in the next Outlook magazine of which we are the editors. (I just do the proof reading and supply photos. Ian does the rest). So these photos are of the start. What the men are doing is trying to locate and clear the groves ready for the stop planks to go in.

At the end of the pole is a bl**dy great spade! |

The chap on the left has the guide wire to help move the spade through the groves. |
And a bit of a spider theme today. Apologies if you have arachnophobia.

Love the spider photos, Irene.
Cheers, Marilyn
Thank you Marilyn. Your not frightened of spiders by the sound of it. My phobia has improved ten fold since photographing them although still not sure I could hold one. Xxx
You could get one of these for charging your laptop: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/ring-automotive-mp60-12v-modified-sinewave-45w-inverter-a88uk
So near and yet so far, Irene! We will be at the AW Tardebigge basin tomorrow as we litter pick along there, but I don't think we will be able to meet up when you arrive as we are off to see family in Wales on the 20th and have appointments to attend on the 18th and 19th. Enjoy the trip. Jennie and Chris
Fabulous pics.... Charge the laptops in the pubs!! :)
Thanks Adam. Have bookmarked the Maplin page to show Ian on his return (He's off doing a rewire for a friends man room (Shed!)Xxx
Shame we will miss you Jennie. Hopefully meet up with you again next year. Heading North to Liverpool. Xxx
Thanks Sue, great tip. Now we wont have any excuse not to go to the pub! Xxx
I meant to say that Friday the 13th is not considered unlucky in our household as our daughter was born on a Friday the 13th! I hope you stay upright this time! No swimming - it is too cold!
You could always use a car type charger, Ian might have to change the Cig lighter plug and connect it to the boats 12v system assuming it doesn't have a a cig lghter socket for Hirer's to charge their phones froam.

Thanks Alan, Good idea and one worth pursuing.
Jennie your right. 13th is a grand day for the family and one you all must look forward to. I'll will strive to be more positive on that Friday. Xxxxxx
I charge our laptops with 12 v adaptors that plug into cigarette lighter sockets or directly into 2 pin 12 v socket. Easy to carry a cable that fits both.
