About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

First Voyage Boat Festval at Langley Mill.

We left on Wednesday 14th April to travel up the Erewash to Langley Mill where the EC&PDA were holding their 40th anniversary boat rally. Our boating companions were Mick and Carole Gould on their narrow boat Electra. Travelling with us and helping to crew was our good friend June.

Setting of at 9am we met Mick and Carole who had just left their moorings. The whole trip was very pleasant and we were extremely lucky with the weather . On arriving at Langley Mill we found the only moorings available was next to the water point and toilets. Very convenient. Our dogs Judy and Jade, and Christine's dog Echo crashed out as soon as we arrived. All that running up and down the towpath wore them out. Echo managed to cool of as she nose dived into the canal when she misjudged the leap into our boat. Not sure who was more surprised, me or Echo.
