Wilmcote village

Up at some silly hour this morning hoping to beat the exodus from Bancroft Basin, only to find another boater had beaten us to the locks! We caught up with them at the facilities and as we only needed to empty the loo managed to get in front. The next few locks were all with us but then caught up with a hire boat and from then on the going was slow. Still our destination today was only at Wilmcote so 16 locks and 3.5 hours later saw us safely moored up. Good news is that the dongle is giving us a good signal so fingers crossed that it continues.

At this mooring is another of Shakespeare family homes. His mother  Mary Arden, owned a house next door to Adam Palmer a good friend and neighbour and owner of the Tudor working  farm  . Another must visit house. £9.50 to get in but one of the best places we have visited so far. Staff are all dressed in Tudor gear and a hands on approach is encourage to help with cooking, looking after the animals and even having a go at archery. The falcon display got the adrenalin going especially when the Eagle Owl flew right over your head!
