Update on Jade

Not to good an evening for Jade last night. She struggled to stand and struggled to lay down. More worryingly though, was the fact that she didn't want to eat her dinner at 6pm. I even mixed in some nice meaty gravy with her dried food but no joy. We wandered if she was still feeling sick so we left the food down to see if she might try it later. Sure enough the Labrador trait took hold and after a while she managed a wobbly walk toward the bowl and had a few mouthfuls. By 10pm we tried to get her outside. Not an easy task with a dog that has no idea where she is let alone where she is going. Anyway with Ian following steadying her rear end and me in front guiding the front end we got her off the boat. Somehow going outside seemed to revive her a bit as she managed a wee without falling over and even managed a cockeyed jump back onto the boat. We went to bed at midnight hoping for an undisturbed night and sure enough, didn't hear a peep out of her until we woke her this morning.

So this morning her tail wagged when she saw us. Not only that but she managed to stand after a bit of help from me and get off the boat herself. She even ate her breakfast without any coaxing and although her head is still bent to the right at least she can stand without wobbling to much. Maybe the antibiotics have kicked as we have seen a steady improvement throughout the day. This was Jade last night.

Looking very sorry for herself

And this is Jade now looking more alert. Long may it continue.
