Lime Kilns

Four of the lime kilns were at Consall Forge, and two more a little further north. Both sets were built into a steep bank to allow coal and limestone to be loaded from above.Firing took place at the base, and when the burn was completed, quick lime was dug out from the bottom of the kiln.
