Fathers day...Mothers day....an observation.

Silly time to get up, 5.30am, but also a magical time with the mist rising from the water.

Gosh, we travelled a long way today. All of a half a mile to the Foxton Pub! And the reason? Daughter Christine and grandchildren are coming for a visit but not to see me mind, no, it's her dad she wants to see as a surprise for Fathers day. So I walked to the swing bridge to see if the pub moorings were free and was amazed to find them empty. It's only a 24-hour mooring but that's fine 'cos we want to be up the flight tomorrow and heading toward Cosgrove.

By 9.30am we were settled. Full sun on the solar panels and no need to run the engine. Loverrrly. Then it was off up the flight for a walk to Foxton museum, just a very small building with only two rooms but filled with canalia and information on the Incline Plane and locks. For £3 each we felt it worth every penny.

Thought we may as well continue up the flight and see how many boats were attending the festival. Not too many that I can see but the festival doesn't start until Saturday so still time for more to arrive.

Oh, and by the way, an observation made by Ian. Do you realise that Fathers day is always in June and Mothers day in March? It's exactly 9 months apart!!!!

And on the walk today,
