About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Good decision to stay put.

Wednesday 6th

Yesssss, we have a working stove again. Yesterday Ian replaced the fire rope round the doors, gave it the 12 hours to allow the adhesive to set and lit it this morning and now it's doing it's job nicely without that smoke pouring in from around the door. So one very happy bunny today especially as the wind, rain and that drop in temperature arrived as predicted.

Watching the hirers leaving this morning and battling the sudden gusts, wrapped up to the hilt in thick coats, our decision to stay was a good 'un. Some very sharp and prolonged showers kept us inside but then when the sun did come out the temperature was most pleasant. Cant win really, not at this time of year.

Merryhill
We dashed to the shops in between the showers and I purchased some new loop earrings. My old stud ones were beginning to dig in behind the ears and was most uncomfortable. Then it was off to Wetherspoons 'The Water Front' as Wednesday was 'Chicken club' and I do like their Peri Peri sauce. Weather still doesn't look promising for tomorrow but we have been on this mooring for 48 hours. No signs up to say how long we can stay but feel we need to move on.

And starlings on waste ground.
