About Us

My photo
In 1977 we hired our first narrowboat from Anglo Welsh at Market Harborough. From that moment our destiny was set. In 2006 we finally purchased our own brand new 57' narrowboat which we named 'Free Spirit'. Our aim is to travel the length and breadth of all the navigable rivers and canals of the UK. This will be our story as it unfolds.

Yipeeeeeee. It's out.

The bath is no more.  Smiley  And it came out in one piece. No bathroom or bedroom door to remove and no axe to the bath to chop it in half (mores the pity). I was so looking forward to destroying the thing. It now resides next to the fence and can still be used. Any one for a bath??????

I must just say a big thank you to Alf for leaving me a comment yesterday. He suggested we get a Erbauer multi cutter tool to help with the removal of the small partition. Ian took one look and said that's just what we need. So a trip to Screwfix this morning saw him return with the goods. Although Ian hasn't used it for the partition yet it's already come into it's own by cutting away the wooden struts holding the bath in place. Just goes to show that there are some very helpful readers out there.

Because Ian was going to carry on with the hammer drill to remove the rest of the tiles, I left him to cope with the noise and dust ( he had on face mask, ear plugs and ear defenders) and went for a walk. Not a time I usually go out and not one to do again. Not a soul about other then the odd cyclist and with the wind picking up as the afternoon progressed, I started to feel a little unnerved. Could be that it got dark early especially as the skies were already showing sign of the impending storm and it felt a bit oppressive. Anyway I was glad to get back even though Ian was still hammering away at the tiles but my earplugs helped to deaden the sound. Still heard the small branches dropping onto the roof, though, and the main storm is not due till tomorrow. 60mph according to the met office. Definitely time to batten down the hatches, bring in the coal and sit it out for the next few days.

Slight tinge to the sky this morning. Ready for the forthcoming storm

And seen today on my walk

Hi,
if you join Freecycle you will probably find someone who wants your bath and will come and take it away for you!
Best wishes

It's easy and free.

Thanks Debby,
Got to see if anyone round here wants it first but otherwise will give Freecycle a go.
